Great brunch at the beautiful and peaceful Gast café in Stockholm
The rumor about a new café spread fast on the streets of inner Stockholm. We knew we had to find out what the fuzz was all about, so one Sunday morning we went for a walk towards Vasastan to check it out. And we’re glad we did.
Gast is the sister café to the popular establishments Kaffeverket, Snickarbacken 7 and Kvarteret, so we had a hunch that we were in for a good time for our Sunday brunch. The first thing we noticed when we walked through the door was the beautiful interior. A warm color scheme with soft pink walls and natural wooden elements together with green plants all lit up by the natural light from the large windows. With candles on every table and books about design, food and culture spread out all over the room, it was clear that this was a place where they encourage you to take your time and relax.
We were starving after walking all the way from Södermalm (not really that far, but still), so the next thing that caught our attention was obviously the menu. Even though the breakfast section only had about seven main options, it felt impossible to choose. Everything was right up our alley (kudos for their vegan dishes!), so we took the easy way out and got one of each. This turned out to be a really, really good idea since everything was yummy af! We’re definitely going back to try the lunch menu as well. From what we’ve heard, it’s supposed to be just as good as their breakfast. Maybe even better.
Get the porridge. Trust us.
Amanda had the oat and spelt porridge served with homemade fruit compote, tasty toppings and a very generous amount of almond butter, and it just blew her away. Order it, you won’t be disappointed.
