Vasastan goes Saigon
What happens when you put Vietnamese street food in a bistro setting in Stockholm? The answer spells Eatnam—a really chill little corner restaurant where the food is nice and spicy, the staff friendly and helpful, and the vibes are just on point.
Both of us are like really into Asian food, but we don’t eat it nearly as often as we like or should. We often end up freestyling some tofu wok in our own kitchen, or steaming a few frozen bao buns from our local Asian supermarket and filling them with all the good stuff we can think of. However, every now and then, we treat ourselves by going to someone who actually knows how it’s supposed to taste. After some Christmas shopping in central Stockholm, we ended up taking the green line up to Odenplan to indulge in crispy spring rolls and homemade lemonade while going to town on a big bowl of noodles with pork and tofu.
At Eatnam, they share with their own favorite dishes their grandmother cooked in the southern parts of Saigon. Fresh herbs, fish sauce, noodles, and broths are recurring ingredients in everything on their menu, which is filled with dishes such as Pho (noodle soup), Goi coun (fresh spring rolls) and bun ba xao (noodle salad). From what we’ve heard, seasoning your food, especially your Pho, is a common thing in Vietnam. Therefore, sriracha sauce, soy sauce, limes and fish sauce are always close to hand.
This is not really the place to go to if you’re going out for dinner, but it’s a great spot if you’re looking for a nice lunch or a casual and tasty meal after work on a Thursday.
You don’t have to be a carnivore to enjoy a meal at Eatnam. And if you’re not sure on what to order, just ask the staff for recommendations and they’ll help you out.
