Dogfood hot dog bar

Hot dogs for days

Hot dogs are hot, and this is the proof. The people from Flippin’ Burgers took over the burger scene, and now they are claiming the hot dog scene too.

Since we live in Södermalm, this is where we spend most of our time. We don’t visit Kungsholmen that often, but when we do, we usually have our eyes set on something special. This time we went to Dogfood, a hot dog bar with 40 seats, a nice selection of craft beer and just a great vibe. The people behind Hotdog are the same that brought you Flippin’ Burgers which started the Swedish burger hype a couple years back. That’s how you know it’s good.

You don’t really go here for a nice dinner, even if you’re super into hot dogs. This is more like the first stop before a night out. Despite the wordplay on the sign out front, the hot dogs aren’t really the main attractions. Don’t get us wrong, they are good but a bit pricey. That’s okay because you come here for the atmosphere. Bring your friends. Drink beer. Eat hot dogs. Have a good time. Move on.

You might ask yourself: Do they have any vegetarian options? They certainly do. If you want to avoid meat you’ll find the Updog to be a very nice substitute. It’s made out of fried sweet potatoes and sesame seeds, served with chili mayo, coriander, pickled carrots, and daikon.

Dessert, anyone?

If you’re looking to follow up with something sweet you should definitely try the Sweet Doggy Dogg—a fried hot dog bun filled with soft ice cream, topped with caramel sauce and cookie crumbs. The bun has a donut-ish texture, and to be honest, who doesn’t like donuts?
