Scandwich

A tall sandwich is a good sandwich

Scandwich has been serving Malmö with delicious sandwiches for quite some time, but now they have finally opened up in Midsommarkransen, a cozy neighborhood in southern Stockholm. We love sandwiches, so this was right up our alley.

If you’ve followed us for a while, you may have noticed that we tend to do most of our exploring within a safe distance of our home. Yes, we live in Södermalm, and yes, we hold it very close to our hearts. But the main reason we started this blog and Instagram thing was to explore our new hometown and discover neighborhoods other than our own, so when we heard that a friend of ours was going to expand the family business to Midsommarkransen we got pretty excited about the good news.

Never again eat a sandwich, or only eat sandwiches for the rest of your life?

I (Fabian) love sandwiches, or “mackor” as they are called in Swedish. I love them because they are awesome. I have even come up with a question I quite often harass friends and new colleagues with. It goes: Would you rather never eat a sandwich again only eat sandwiches for the rest of your life?
The answer is—of course—only sandwiches for the rest of your life. A no-brainer. Just think about it—you can put whatever you want on a sandwich. And what is a sandwich, really?

Well, enough about my existential take on sandwiches. If you’re in “Kransen” looking for a bite to eat or a beer to drink, either by yourself or with friends and family, Scandwich is simply the perfect choice. Here you find great sandwiches with more toppings than what’s considered reasonable, stacked taller than a game of Jenga.

Pork-U-Pine
Scandwich is run by three brothers from Malmö, who all shared the passion for good sandwiches and good food in general. Everything is made from scratch and with love. There are always at least three main options on the menu, currently in the form of the Pork-U-Pine, (filled a lot of pork, duh), the vegetarian Call me Kål—and last but not least—the vegan and delicious Dj Tim Jan. The menu changes every now and then, depending on the season or how inspired the chef is. Get some snacks as a starter, or if you only want something to nibble on along with your beer. How about sweet bread pudding or the dish fittingly called ”the Carrot Massacre”? Don’t miss the double-dipped (how George Costanza of them) fries with the vegan bearnaise dip.

Scandquiz on Tuesdays

Every other Tuesday at 19.00 you can drop in and take part in their quiz with a focus on pop-culture. The questions are promised to be witty and not too hard.
